Welcome to ‘The Ride’ 2016 – a combination of two iconic American brands, three bike-building teams, a challenge book and a route map. The epic nine-day competitive riding challenge was launched by Harley-Davidson UK & Ireland and spiced rum specialist, Sailor Jerry, at the Bikeshed MC, London this week.
It all starts with a bike-build-off on a Harley-Davidson Street Bob® and public voting will determine the winning custom bike and award the first round of points ahead of the trip start on Saturday 2 July. The three competing British teams take on a series of competitive challenges to compete for The Ride 2016 crown.
Hackney Wick’s Kingdom of Kicks, Welsh motorcycle club FTHaters and 2015’s returning challengers, The Ride Originals, will take on the action-packed schedule and compete to win their custom Harley® and a trip to Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins’ spiritual home, Hawaii.
Nationwide challenges will see the teams fight for the lead as they take on epic eating competitions, pit bike races, cut each other’s hair and wear their helmet for 24 hours straight as they make their own way across the country. On the final ride day of 9 July, the riders will have 24 hours to complete their final challenges face-to-face, ahead of the winner being crowned on 10 July.
All the madness and mayhem will be captured in a series of six videos airing from w/c 18 July, but if you can’t wait until then follow The Ride on the Harley-Davidson UK Facebook and Instagram where we’ll keep you updated on all the action and build-up – literally!
