Triumph unveil new Bonneville T40 and T40 Black Models for 2027

Triumph has given us an early look at four of its big new motorcycles for 2027. The Bonneville T40 and T40 Black have both now been revealed in full, while the covers have only been partially lifted on the new Street Triple 798 RS, Tiger 1200 and Tiger 900.

There isn’t enough information to properly dissect the latter three just yet, but Triumph has revealed a few interesting details, and confirmed when we’ll get to see the bikes properly. Here’s what we know so far.

20227 Triumph Bonneville T40

Bonneville T40 and T40 Black

The Bonneville T40 is the first of the four to be fully revealed, and brings one of Triumph’s most famous names to its successful 400cc platform. It uses a dedicated version of the single-cylinder TR-Series engine, with a revised cylinder head and Bonneville-specific tune producing 32 PS at 7,000 rpm and 36 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The classic Bonneville cues are all present too, including the teardrop tank, round headlight, bench seat, spoked 18- and 17-inch wheels and twin rear shocks.

Underneath the traditional styling is a surprisingly comprehensive electronics package. The T40 gets a four-inch circular TFT with full-map navigation and smartphone connectivity, five riding modes, cruise control, cornering ABS and cornering traction control. Seat height is an approachable 790mm, or 770mm with the accessory low seat, and ready-to-ride weight is 191kg.

The darker
T40 Black gets its own blacked-out finishes, but otherwise shares the same package. UK pricing will be announced in early 2027, with bikes arriving in our LIND Triumph dealers from spring.

2027 Triumph Street Triple 798 RS

Street Triple 798 RS

Perhaps the most intriguing bike in Triumph’s 2027 preview is the all-new Street Triple 798 RS. As the name suggests, the familiar 765cc capacity is making way for a new 798cc Moto2-derived triple, which Triumph says will make this the most powerful Street Triple yet.

It won’t simply be a bigger engine in the existing bike, either. Triumph has confirmed an all-new chassis and says the 798 RS will be both the lightest and most advanced Street Triple to date, with new tuneable rider technology also promised. Power, weight and the rest of the technical specification remain under wraps for now, with the full reveal scheduled for 17 November.

The flagship Tiger is also getting a refresh for 2027, with Triumph promising more power and greater refinement from its 1200cc triple. The brief teaser suggests the focus isn’t solely on the engine, though, with new rider technology also on the way.

Most interestingly, Triumph says the new Tiger 1200 will feature the most sophisticated suspension ever fitted to one of its motorcycles. What that actually entails remains to be seen, but we won’t have long to wait; the Tiger 1200 will be revealed in full later this month on 27 October.

Details on the new Tiger 900 are even thinner on the ground, but Triumph has confirmed an upgraded chassis along with new intelligent rider technology and next-generation connectivity as standard.

For now, that’s about all Triumph is saying. Whether there are significant changes to the engine, suspension or wider Tiger 900 range will have to wait until the bike’s full reveal on 15 December.

More to come

So, for now, the Bonneville T40 is the only bike we can properly get our teeth into. But an all-new 798cc Street Triple and significant updates to Triumph’s two main adventure platforms make the next few months worth watching.

First up is the Tiger 1200 on 27 October, followed by the Street Triple 798 RS on 17 November and the Tiger 900 on 15 December. We’ll update you as soon as we know more.
