Romford, Essex – A dedicated group of motorcyclists from LIND Triumph East London embarked on an epic three-day moto tour from Essex to Cheddar Gorge, raising an impressive £1,000 in support of the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT).

The riders, part of the Plan B Riding Group, participated in EHAAT’s ‘I Did It My Way’ fundraising challenge, a campaign which invites motorcyclists to plan and complete their own routes throughout August to support their local life-saving air ambulance service. The initiative encourages riders to explore their favourite roads, visit landmarks, or ride in memory of loved ones, all while raising crucial funds.

Plan B Route from Romford to Cheddar Gorge

Setting off on Friday, August 9th, the group of 15 riders began their 383-mile journey from the LIND Triumph East London dealership on London Road, Romford. Their route included 19 planned stops, featuring iconic locations such as Battle, Arundel Castle, and Goodwood on the first day, culminating in a stopover in Portsmouth.

On the second day, the group enjoyed breakfast at Loomies Moto Café, followed by visits to the Beaulieu and Haynes motor museums, before reaching their destination at Cheddar Gorge. On Sunday, August 11th, the riders made their way back home, concluding their adventure at EHAAT’s North Weald airbase. Upon arrival, they were welcomed warmly by the EHAAT crew and volunteers with refreshments.

Karl Ford-Lissenden, the event organiser from LIND Triumph East London, expressed his delight at the successful ride: “It’s been three days of fun, sun, and great times! We were overwhelmed by the support from fellow riders, friends, and family. We even received donations from people we met along the route. Our initial target was £500, so to raise £1,000 is just incredible.”

Stacey Wilson, EHAAT’s Fundraising Manager, praised the group’s efforts: “We are extremely grateful to Karl and the Plan B Riders for taking on the ‘I Did It My Way’ challenge. Their remarkable fundraising will directly contribute to our life-saving mission.”

‘I Did It My Way’ runs throughout August, with EHAAT encouraging more motorcycle enthusiasts to participate. The highest fundraiser will win a flight in a 1960s ‘Wasp’ helicopter, and the first 1,000 registered riders (including pillions) will receive a limited-edition 2024 embroidered patch to display on their jackets proudly.
