Triumph Reveals Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition

A Modern Interpretation of Café Racer Style

Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition, a striking new limited-run model inspired by the original British café racers of the 1960s. Limited to just 800 motorcycles worldwide, each example comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, reinforcing its exclusivity.

Based on the Speed Twin 1200 RS, the Café Racer Edition features low clip-on handlebars, a streamlined single-seat profile and a distinctive brown bullet seat with removable cowl. High-quality details such as machined bar-end mirrors, sculpted knee pads and ribbed engine cover badges complete the refined café racer look. Pillion footpegs are removed as standard but supplied for owners who wish to reinstate two-up capability.

An exclusive British racing-inspired colour scheme combines Competition Green and Aluminium Silver paintwork, accented by Empire Gold detailing, Aluminium Silver wheels and a colour-coded headlight bowl for a timeless yet purposeful appearance.

Thrilling Bonneville Performance

Designed for riders seeking a more engaging and dynamic ride, the Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition shares the RS model’s premium chassis components. Fully adjustable Marzocchi forks are paired with Öhlins rear suspension, delivering precise control and confidence-inspiring handling.

Braking performance is equally impressive, thanks to twin Brembo Stylema calipers acting on 320 mm discs. High-performance Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tyres come fitted as standard, providing exceptional grip and consistent feedback in both spirited road riding and everyday use.

At the heart of the Café Racer Edition is Triumph’s high-compression Bonneville 1200 twin engine, producing 105 PS at 7,750 rpm and delivering strong, sustained performance right through to the 8,000 rpm redline. With a distinctive 270-degree firing order and low-inertia crankshaft, throttle response is immediate and engaging.

Peak torque of 112 Nm ensures effortless acceleration across the rev range, making the Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition as thrilling on winding roads as it is refined for everyday riding.

Premium Finish and Timeless Detail

True to Triumph’s modern classic philosophy, advanced engineering is paired with elegant design. Cables and hoses are carefully concealed, while the sculpted fuel tank features raked lines, deep cut-outs and a flip-up filler cap for a clean, purposeful finish.

Black powder-coated engine casings, a compact silencer and uninterrupted exhaust lines reinforce the motorcycle’s classic character. At the front, a round headlight with full LED lighting and distinctive DRL signature completes the look.

The café racer movement emerged in Britain during the 1960s, centred around transport cafés such as London’s iconic Ace Café. Triumph’s parallel-twin Bonneville engines quickly became the foundation of the movement, prized for their performance, handling and unmistakable British character.

Decades later, that spirit lives on. The Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition celebrates this legacy, reinterpreting the style and attitude of the original café racers through modern performance, technology and craftsmanship.
