Following last week's global announcement from Triumph Motorcycles, Triumph UK has officially confirmed that acclaimed custom builder Charlie Stockwell, mastermind behind Stockwell Design, has been selected for the second consecutive year to spearhead the UK’s entry in the prestigious 2026 Triumph Originals Global Custom Build competition.
The globally celebrated competition returns for 2026 with an entirely new platform and a highly anticipated design directive: the “Time Capsule”.
This year, teams from seven powerhouse motorcycling nations, the UK, US, Spain, France, Italy, China, and Canada, have been tasked with transforming a model from Triumph’s iconic Scrambler family. The brief challenges builders to select a defining era or momentous decade from the Scrambler’s storied past and completely reinterpret it through a blend of heritage design, modern craftsmanship, and cutting-edge engineering.
Stockwell enters the 2026 competition with formidable momentum. In the inaugural 2025 competition Stockwell Design’s striking 1960s rock ‘n’ roll-inspired “The Bonneville Sunraiser T100” captured the imagination of the custom world, securing a razor-thin global runner-up finish just behind the eventual winners from Brazil. For 2026, operating out of the LIND x Stockwell Design custom workshop at Triumph London, Stockwell is looking to claim the top step of the world podium.
"The Triumph Scrambler is a machine born directly out of custom culture," said Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer at Triumph Motorcycles. "From the stripped-back desert sleds of the 1950s to the big-screen stunts of the 2020s, it has been ridden by icons from Steve McQueen to James Bond. Triumph Originals gives us a global stage to celebrate that enduring spirit of customisation."
While the exact era and specific model chosen by Triumph UK and LIND x Stockwell Design remain strictly under wraps, the completed machine will be revealed to the public later this summer. The competition will be decided by a combined score from an elite panel of design and cultural experts alongside a global public vote, with the ultimate Triumph Original 2026 champion crowned in Autumn 2026.
Progress updates, builder interviews, and behind-the-scenes content will be shared throughout the summer on Triumph’s, Stockwell’s and LIND's dedicated digital hubs. Be the first to hear by subscribing to our newsletter below.
