Seven countries. One challenge. One motorcycle built to look like it's already lived a lifetime.
The Triumph Originals global custom motorcycle competition is back for 2026, bringing together teams from seven countries to create one-off Triumph Scramblers inspired by this year’s theme: Time Capsule.
Representing the UK once again is Stockwell Design, led by renowned custom builder Charlie Stockwell and working in collaboration with Triumph Motorcycles and Triumph London. Reuniting with musician, designer and motorcycle enthusiast Dougie Poynter, the team has transformed a new Triumph Scrambler 900 into something that feels anything but new.
Meet Hell Bitch: A custom Scrambler 900 inspired by the raw, functional Scramblers of the 1960s and 70s, imagined not as a pristine recreation of the past, but as a machine that has spent decades earning every mark, story and scar along the way.
Triumph Originals challenges teams from around the world to showcase their creativity, craftsmanship and approach to custom motorcycle design.
For 2026, the brief is Time Capsule. Each team has been asked to select a defining era or moment from the Scrambler’s legendary history and reinterpret its style and attitude through a contemporary custom build.
That history offers plenty of inspiration. From the Big Bear Run, the 530-Mile Greenhorn Enduro and Baja 1000 to Steve McQueen’s famous association with Triumph and decades of appearances throughout film, fashion and popular culture, the Scrambler has always represented freedom, individuality and adventure.
For Charlie Stockwell, however, the answer wasn’t to recreate one particular motorcycle or moment. It was to capture the spirit of all Scramblers and the adventures they experience through life.
That became the provocative question at the heart of Hell Bitch.
Built from a new Triumph Scrambler 900, the ambition was to create a motorcycle that feels as though it's already lived a long and eventful life, but not beaten, neglected, nor artificially distressed for the sake of appearance.
Instead, Hell Bitch was imagined as the ultimate workhorse: dependable, resilient and naturally shaped by the miles, stories and scars accumulated along the way. As Stockwell explains: “Bikes are not just visual pieces, they’re built to be ridden.”
The concept draws heavily from the Scrambler identity of the 1960s and 70s, when these motorcycles were raw, functional and stripped back. But rather than replicating a specific historic machine, the team imagined what might happen if a Scrambler had spent decades travelling around the world before eventually finding its way back home to England and its muddy country lanes.
The result is a motorcycle that feels discovered rather than manufactured.
Creating that illusion meant reconsidering almost every surface of the Scrambler 900.
The standard fuel tank has been replaced with a modified Scrambler 1200-spec tank and strap, paired with modified Bonneville T100 side panels to subtly alter the proportions and give Hell Bitch a silhouette that feels familiar without belonging to any one period.
A custom high-level front guard and Motone high-level rear guard reinforce the utilitarian Scrambler stance, while Continental TKC80 tyres provide the purposeful, go-anywhere profile central to the concept.
At the front, a 7-inch headlamp has been modified to house the original speedometer cluster, cleaning up the cockpit while retaining modern functionality. Motogadget Mo.Blaze indicators and Motone Tri-Line bar-end mirrors continue the stripped-back approach. Every component has a reason for being there.
Where many custom motorcycles are defined by flawless paint and mirror-polished metal, Hell Bitch deliberately takes another path.
The engine covers, triple trees, handlebars and risers have been shot blasted and given a vintage dull polish, removing the clinical appearance of a brand-new motorcycle. The front forks are finished in Burnt Bronze Cerakote, adding another layer of warmth and age to the machine.
Then there's the paint. A Denim Black base with Ivory accents and Active Rust creates a finish that appears to carry history within it. Rather than simply making a new motorcycle look weathered, the different materials and finishes work together to suggest years of use, maintenance, modification and adventure. It's a Time Capsule you don't open. You ride it.
One of Hell Bitch's most personal details is its saddle. Rather than specifying pristine new upholstery, the custom-made seat uses leather repurposed from a vintage jacket, finished with coarse brass stitching.
It's an important detail within the wider philosophy of the build. The material already had a life before becoming part of the motorcycle, bringing genuine age and character into a project designed around exactly that idea.
Beneath it, the subframe has been modified to tighten the Scrambler's proportions and further establish its distinctive silhouette.
Hell Bitch needed a soundtrack equally appropriate to its personality. Modified exhaust headers lead into a pair of custom-made Hitchcox titanium drag pipes, mounted high alongside the motorcycle.
The setup is raw, purposeful and unmistakably Scrambler, complementing the visual language of a machine built around function rather than unnecessary decoration.
A Motone sump guard adds protection underneath, while the combination of high-level bodywork and TKC80 rubber completes the impression of a motorcycle prepared to leave the road behind whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Hell Bitch also reunites Charlie Stockwell and Dougie Poynter, continuing a creative partnership built around motorcycles, design, music and a shared appreciation for objects with genuine character.
Dougie's creative vision helped shape the concept and identity of the motorcycle, while Charlie translated those ideas into metal through Stockwell Design's philosophy of building motorcycles that are “Refined. Functional. Purposeful.”
Capturing that journey was Max Howard, who led the creative content throughout the project, ensuring the story remained at the heart of every image and film.
Together, the team set out to create more than another custom Scrambler. They wanted to build a motorcycle that looked like it already had a story to tell.
For Charlie, custom motorcycle building has always been a balance of design, engineering and storytelling. The Time Capsule brief offered an opportunity to bring all three together.
Hell Bitch doesn't attempt to preserve the 1960s or 70s behind glass. Instead, it takes the rawness, adaptability and freedom that defined the Scrambler during that period and asks what those qualities look like after a lifetime on the road.
Every dulled surface, repurposed material and purposeful modification contributes to that story. A brand-new Triumph made to feel like an old friend.
And now, Hell Bitch represents the UK in Triumph Originals 2026, where the final builds from seven countries will compete to be crowned the Triumph Original 2026.
Hell Bitch began with an idea: create a brand-new motorcycle that feels like it has already lived a lifetime. Every Stockwell Design custom starts with that same focus on story, individuality and purpose, creating a motorcycle shaped around its rider.
