Yes the Rookie to Rider scheme is available on a wide variety of bikes in the BMW Motorrad range. *If you hold an A2 licence you still have plenty of motorcycles to choose from, all of which can be restricted and are suitable for the license you hold. You’ll need to pass the Motorcycle Theory Test before you can get started. Once you start training with us, you’ll complete the CBT (Compulsory Basic Training), which will be carried out at the training centre with your instructor. The full motorcycle test comprises of Module 1, which is carried out at a test centre and shows that you are able to control the motorcycle. This is usually taken around halfway through the week. Once you’ve passed your Module 1 you can then take Module 2 which is on the public roads where you’ll be followed by an examiner. This is always taken at the end of the week.
CBT stands for Compulsory Basic Training. Most learner motorcycle and moped riders must take CBT. You then have to pass your full motorcycle test within 2 years, or you’ll have to take your CBT again. After you’ve completed your CBT, you can ride a moped or a motorbike up to 125cc and with a power output of up to 11kW on the road. You must use L plates (L or D plates in Wales) until you pass your full motorcycle test. The CBT comprises of 5 elements: • Introduction and eyesight check • Practical on-site training • Practical on-site riding • Practical on-road training • Practical on-road riding (Must last at least 2 hours) You’ll move from one element to the next when your trainer is happy you’ve: • Learnt the theory • Shown the practical skills to a safe basic level
