There are motorcycles you buy with your head, and there are motorcycles you build with your memory.

When Rodney walked into the
Triumph London dealership to order a new Bonneville Speedmaster, he wasn’t chasing trends or building a show pony. He was chasing something far more personal. The feeling of the early 1970s, when handlebars were high, exhaust pipes reached for the sky, and the open road felt endless.

Back then, he rode bobbers and choppers that shook, rattled, and demanded constant tinkering. They weren’t perfect, nor refined, but they had soul. And this time, Rodney wanted both -

The transformation begins where every proper chopper statement starts - at eye level.

Fourteen-inch chrome ape hangers rise confidently above the tank, instantly rewriting the Speedmaster’s silhouette. They pull the rider upright, arms stretched just enough to feel the road without fighting it. In chrome, they echo the polished engine cases below, creating a line that defines the entire build.

It’s not exaggerated, it's intentional. From across the parking lot, the message is clear - this machine remembers where it came from.

If handlebars set the attitude, the exhaust sets the voice. Rodney commissioned custom “Trumpet” upswept slip-ons as an unmistakable nod to the boulevard choppers of his youth. The pipes sweep upward with purpose, visually lifting the rear of the bike and adding just enough defiance to the profile.

But this isn’t 1972. Beneath that vintage silhouette lives modern fuel injection and contemporary tuning. The note is deep, authoritative, and clean. No carburettor hesitation, no roadside adjustments, just reliable torque delivered with a soundtrack that feels earned.

A custom rear fender tightens the back end, giving the bike a leaner, more deliberate stance. Rising above it, a tall sissy bar completes the period-correct outline. In the early days, a sissy bar meant freedom. It held bedrolls, jackets, maybe everything you owned. On Rodney’s build, it serves the same symbolic purpose - adventure, while adding real-world passenger support and touring practicality. It’s heritage, refined.

The long-slung dual saddle may be the clearest example of Rodney’s philosophy. Wrapped in black leather with diamond stitch detailing, it captures the handcrafted aesthetic of the chopper era. But underneath, modern materials deliver day-long comfort. It looks like it belongs outside a roadside diner in 1973, and rides like it belongs on a 500-mile Saturday.

But what makes Rodney’s Speedmaster special isn’t any single modification. It’s the balance. The stance says rebellion, the engineering says confidence, and the details say experience. He didn’t want to relive the past exactly as it was. He wanted to bring its spirit forward, without the oil leaks, the roadside tuning sessions, or the compromises.

The result is a bespoke motorcycle that honours the raw individuality of early American chopper culture, while embracing the reliability and refinement of modern British engineering. Rodney isn’t trying to be 22 again; he’s simply riding forward, with better suspension, better brakes, and the same wide grin. And somewhere, in the reflection of those chrome ape hangers, you can still see the young rider he used to be.
