Every Harley-Davidson Motorcycle can be customised as much or as little as desired. Your Harley-Davidson Motorcycle can be completely unique to you and that’s one of the reasons so many people love the brand. The Harley-Davidson Parts catalogue hosts thousands and thousands of products for your bike. Our in-store parts departments at Guildford, Newmarket, Norwich and Reading stock these parts so that you can make your Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, the bike you’ve always dreamt of.
Our team are passionate about customisation and coming up with brand new ways to create unique motorcycles. Each year we create custom Harley-Davidson Motorcycles for our customers and to compete in national custom competitions and showcase our work. The performance bagger scene growing in the states is what caught our attention and the drive to build Street Reaper for the 2019 Battle of the Kings Competition – it isn’t every day you see a performance Touring model on UK roads.
The team at Newmarket & Norwich Harley-Davidson opted for the Harley-Davidson Roadster to create their ultimate custom ride for the 2018 Battle of the Kings competition. The Roadster was a great base for the teams vision of a cafe racer with a modern twist.
Having been involved in a very exciting project, rescuing a genuine barn find 1943 WLC ’45. The team at Reading Harley-Davidson wanted to recreate a bike with a similar patina of many hard miles ridden cross country and a ‘shed built’ evolution into a unique custom bike.
Taking inspiration from Japanese Custom Culture we wanted to build a super tight, lane splitter that you can ride and fast through the city. H-D Rail Collection cam cover and filter give the motor a stripped down look, mixed with a 2-into-1 Stainless Exhaust.
The bike we selected for this Battle of the Kings entry is a 2017 MY XL883N, Sportster Iron. We have selected this bike with its timeless ‘Old School’ style in mind, and endless customisable features. This year we decided to go for a Rat Rod theme build, working on the basis of less is more.
We set out to do something which has a classy look whilst remaining a practical riding proposition. What we ended up with was ‘BOOTLEG’. The bikes styling is inspired by the 1940 Ford V8 Coupe which was the Vehicle of choice for Moonshiners’ and Rum runners in 40’s and 50’s America
We decided to go for an Exile influence using a ‘48 as a donor. We liked the idea of the short frame and fatter front end so we could show the world that no matter what size the rider may be, you can take a stock bike and customise it to fit
Our bike has a custom classic Evel Knievel paint job, fabricated exhaust and welds have been left for the industrial look. The sprocket covers are a one off made just for this bike
The theme and inspiriation of the ride has come from the love of Hot Rods and everything custom we have at Reading Harley-Davidson.
Our 2016 entry for Battle of the Kings has come from 1970s racing and the black and gold theme. The Café Racer bike was popular in the late sixties and seventies. The idea is that you have your customised bike for short, quick rides between Cafes and bars.
The Petrali Racer is homage to Joe “Smokin’ Joe” Petrali, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle racing great from the mid-twenties to late 1930s. He won 49 AMA national championship races, a record that stood for 55 years.
